Suicidal thoughts and feelings may be linked to depression and are real, not signs of weakness. People who talk about suicide may be likely to try it, roughly 75% of people who commit suicide give some warning.
We can all do something to stop a friend or family member from committing suicide.
We can all do something to stop a friend or family member from committing suicide.
If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts:
- Tell someone right away. (This can be anonymous through and organization, a close friend, or relative)
- Make sure you are not alone
- Do not use alcohol or drugs
- Ask family members to lock any means of self harm away (i.e.: knifes, guns, ropes, pills)
- Spend time with family and friends, do not withdraw and isolate yourself if at all possible.
Suicide should not be a secret!
